Sometimes you have to lose yourself to find yourself

Imagine you’re walking in a museum, observing the paintings one by one, admiring the colors, the image depicted and what message that the author wanted to convey, then you come face to face with the above image limited by a refined wooden frame.

As you look at the painting, you remember that your life is made of challenges, of opportunities sometimes hard to notice, above all, of unexpected and surprising roads we never expected to drive on so soon. Then, you feel the urge to offer your mind a different air which could point out to another way of approaching your task.

You allow yourself to step into the painting to experience what it feels like. You step on the grass, walk by old trees, listen to the late song of a bird heading back home and feel the light warmth of a sunset among the mountains.

There’s a river of shallow waters you need to cross and as the first step is done, you immediately feel the cold water engulfing your foot. Besides, you’re carrying a backpack of life experiences and your map is not fully completed, which means that you’re somehow lost and don’t know where some paths will lead you to.

Life is like exploring a painting, it’s not going to show and tell you where you should be headed, but it’ll surely let you know how it feels like living the choices and decisions you backed up.

Life is like a painting in which you immerse yourself and interact with whatever is part of it.

These interactions provide you the outlooks and perspectives which are far from valuable when it comes to assisting you at making great decisions. You can have plenty of interactions by allowing yourself to dive into different scenarios while you search for anything positive that can be taken from the picture and brought into your life in a practical way.

Sometimes we underestimate the power of our imagination because we’re not so attached to the idea of traveling to imaginary landscapes searching for answers and viewpoints capable of improving our life in someway.

The idea of getting lost and finding yourself is part a metaphor presented in the book Think Like A Genius, by Todd Siler, where you take your thoughts away from this world and toy with them somewhere else. Even though it might be silly, it does has the potential do trigger insights to be implemented in your life because it’s a very deep experience. You’re going to explore based on who you are and what you’re looking for, so it’s also linked to your personality and goals. It can even help you understand yourself a bit deeper based on how you interact with your imagination.

Sometimes, I can’t find ideas to write about, after reading and interacting with ideas in a book, that could give me the opportunity to bring value to my content. When this is the case, I jump into the concept while it’s still fresh in my mind and start sewing whatever I can that’s relatable and understandable. By doing so, I’m giving a second chance to my mind so that it can come up with an useful text for my readers.

It’s not easy, however it does build on practice, which means that if you trust your steps and orientate them accordingly to what you wish to accomplish, then, mastering the act is just a matter of time.

It’s common to lose ourselves trying to solve our objectives, so always keep in mind that losing yourself and then find your way back with a much better perspective on life should be aimed to take the most of your experience.
